Ph.D. Opening (Fall 2027)
We are looking for a Ph.D. student to join a NSF VINES project on resilient and converged NextG networking for future manufacturing systems. The project investigates how emerging industrial networks, including 5G/6G and Time Sensitive Networking (TSN), can provide predictable and resilient communication for increasingly automated and interconnected manufacturing environments. The research will involve both fundamental system analysis and practical system design, with topics including deterministic networking, real-time scheduling and resource management, cross domain coordination, runtime resilience, and experimental evaluation on networking testbeds.

Requirements: Applicants to the Ph.D. program should hold a bachelor’s or master’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical and Computer Engineering, Communications Engineering, or a closely related field. Our research spans both theoretical analysis and system-level implementation. Applicants should demonstrate strength in either of the following areas:
- Mathematical foundations, such as optimization or operations research; or
- Strong programming and system implementation skills.
